Welcome to the Special Needs Classrooms at the Michigan School for the Deaf. Our staff currently consists of 3 qualified Special Education Teachers, a team of 8 classroom paraprofessionals, 2 speech therapists, an occupational therapist and a physical therapist. Our classroom population is comprised of children and young adults with various abilities and challenges including deafness, vision impairments, congitive impairments, physical disabilites, Autism Spectrum Disorder, behavioral disabilities and sensory disfunction. Our curriculum is a combination of the Michigan Extended Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs) and the (AUEN) focusing on basic academic mastry, communication and personal and functional independence skills.

- Deaf Blind Central
This is Deaf Blind Central's homepage, out of Central Michigan University. DB Central provides many free services and programs for deafblind students, their families and school staff.

These are the Michigan Extended Grade Level Content Expectations for Math, Language Arts and Science.

PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) is one of the communication methods we use in the classroom with our students.
